At the Edge of Space-Time: A Give Away and a Sneak Peak
This is your chance to win a free copy of The Edge of Space-Time!
Just as I was preparing to send this newsletter, I saw that SCOTUS had ruled in favor of conversion therapists. This is a terrible setback for trans folks and trans children especially. I want to remind you that Trans Lifeline is ready to take calls at +1-877-565-8860 from people in need of support right now and that now is the time for BOLD and VOCAL allyship.
A quick rundown of what’s below, in reverse order: a chance to win a FREE.99 copy of my book, some thoughts about the state of the world, and some details about how to read excerpts from the book.
Because believe it or not . . .
A week from today, The Edge of Space-Time will debut in North America! If you haven’t preordered yet in your choice of format (hardcover, ebook, and/or audio) please do so. It makes a huge difference. If you head to PRH’s website, you can read excerpts from the introduction and first chapter, too! PopSci also published an excerpt from the last chapter, “You Are Not Safe in Science.”

I think almost every hour, the line from the Grateful Dead song “Truckin’” goes through my head: “Lately it occurs to me/ What a long, strange trip it’s been.”
I know I’ve been sending out these newsletters without saying too, too much about the current political situation. Partly that’s because I trust you’re getting a deluge of thoughts elsewhere, and I know many of you follow me on Instagram, Bluesky, and/or Threads where I’ve had plenty to say. It’s on my mind. And it’s a weird time to be promoting a book. But also I wrote this book for this political moment because we all need whimsy and a sense of the universe’s wonder at a moment when authoritarians are hoping we will just feel sad and like we have no fight left in us.
The epilogue of the book is a letter to the future about our current situation. I cried while I wrote it; I hoped that my reader was not crying with me. For those who will be, I hope this book will at least give you hope.
Maybe a small thing to hope for is a free copy of The Edge of Space-Time. Pantheon Books, my publisher, is doing a giveaway over on Instagram. Details:

How: To enter you must like and comment on @pantheonbooks's Instagram post about the giveaway and be following @pantheonbooks and @chanda.prescod.weinstein Instagram accounts. Terms available here.
If you don’t win, don’t forget that borrowing from the library is free! And that buying books from brick and mortar stores puts money into the community and supports the long-term health of publishing. Don’t forget, also, that my book tour begins on April 4. See you soon!
