Before I hit “finalize”: Remember that one of the things authoritarianism and fascism do to us is try to convince us that facts don’t matter, that words don’t have tangible and material meaning, and that because the people in charge don’t respect facts, neither should we. Don’t give in. Facts do matter, words have tangible and material meaning (that can also shift with time and context!), and we should never sink to their level. We are called on in this moment to be responsible for holding fast to the truth, no matter who it is uncomfortable for, even when it’s us.
